First of all...
I would like to say thank you to those two ladies from Utah who are sticking through this and fighting against this person with me. We have become very close and I've made two wonderful friends out of this. A special Thank You to these ladies for sticking it out with the two sickly rabbits. Caring for them and giving them the shots they need daily to get them back to a healthy form of life. I'm sure the bunnies appreciate it more than I can ever say.
Also, thank you to my husband and kids who are standing up for me and giving me the willpower to move forward with this. It's not about the near $900.00 we have spent since the moment of inception of the purchase. It's about the eithics of it all.
Justice Will Prevail~
It's amazing to me that I would even have a page containing this information. I feel that I am a pretty honest person. I assume that everyone else is honest and doesn't get up in the morning and say, "Who can I rip off today"? I have dealt with a wonderful breeder who made the process smooth and was totally honest. But unfortunately those dishonest people are out there. Usually it isn't a first offense. This is what they do.
Recently two ladies from Utah and me purchased five lionhead rabbits from a person in Weston, WV. She sent us emails with the pricing, photos, names of the rabbits. We sent her the money in advance to pay for two new kennels to ship the rabbits in, the airfare, health certificates and the cost of the rabbits we agreed to.
The day came that we were to pick up the five rabbits from the airport. We were so excited. We met at the airport and they brought out one kennel that was rusted and looked like it had been chewed up by a large animal. We were shocked. Then we pulled the rabbits out of the cage to see if they were ours and see if they were ok. There were only two rabbits in the kennel. The kennel wasn't big enough to house any more rabbits.
We got the rabbits out of the kennel and their poor bellies, feet and tails were just as matted as can be. Their toenails were so long, they were curled under their paws. The one rabbit had chipped and uneven teeth and was wheezing like it had pneumonia. It was sneezing every few seconds. It was the most horrible experience I've had. We were in complete shock. We asked the airline employee if there was another kennel. He said, "No this is the only one that was shipped."
It took us almost another day to get in touch with this person in West Virginia. At first she said it was all the airlines fault and they must have messed something up.
Then she got belligerent. As the hours went on, she claimed it was our fault and said we should have insured the shipment (even though she was the one who shipped them and didn't offer us any insurance).
Then she changed her story to say, it wasn't the right rabbits. Because she didn't send sick rabbits with long toenails and "wolf teeth".
The days went by and she claimed we were "lying" and that we were "hiding the other three rabbits".
I requested that she send me a copy of the shipping ticket with proof she sent two kennels. She never did. I assume because she never had a 2nd shipper ticket because there never was 3 other rabbits.
I have also found that she has posted the exact same photos of the rabbits (that she suppose to have sold and shipped us) back on her website for sale. One of the rabbits is the exact name. Another rabbit that she told us was a male is now listed as a female for sale. Another photo of the rabbit we purchased is posted on her "MySpace" Website as a different name and is listed as a male instead of a female.
I contacted the airline security Chief of Police. He and the employee who helped this person the day of the shipping. They watched the 2 recorded videos of her bringing in the 1 old chewed up carrier with 2 rabbits in it. They have other witnesses as well that helped her check in the kennel.
She also sent us 4 of the 5 Pedigrees and one Health Certificate with 5 rabbits listed. I called the Vet listed on the Health Certificate; he stated that he did not write this certificate and that it belonged to someone in Florida. He sent me a sworn statement that it was forged and a fraud.
I also received a phone call from the Animal Control Officer in the previous county she lived in (Upshur). He stated their entire family does this. Not just with rabbits but with all sorts of animals.
Till this day, she refuses to refund our money. So now I am pressing charges. Not for the sake of money, but for the justice of living animals. People like this don't deserve to have animals.
Justice will prevail...

Federal Bureau of Investigation for Internet Fraud
Local Police Department (of where the crime was commited
Contact your local County Magistrate Court for a Civil Complaint form. (This cost $80.00 to file in WV)
NOTE:
As rules go, never send anyone cash, a cashiers check, money order, or even a personal check. You must demand to pay for your rabbit via PayPal or Credit Card. This way you can dispute the charges and they will be liable.
Get a signed contract with a photo and pedigree of the rabbit you are purchasing. This will hold up better if you don’t end up getting your rabbit. Even an email with their agreement constitutes as a binding contract even though it's electronic.
Always have them send you the name of the vet they are having do their health certificate. Look them up in a phone directory or on the internet and call them. Have them verify this person brought the rabbits into them, or even has an appointment with them. Then contact them after the appointment. Your name has to be on the health certificate and they can give you that information.
